Midcoast Now collects only the information needed to operate and improve the calendar.
Event submissions
We collect the submitter’s name and email to verify a listing. Contact details are not published. Event information may be published and retained as part of the calendar record.
Maps and nearby search
Map tiles are supplied by OpenStreetMap or the configured OpenStreetMap-derived provider. If you select Use my location, the browser shares reduced-precision coordinates for that search. They are used to calculate nearby events, place an approximate marker on the map, and ask the configured geocoding provider for the community name shown to you. Midcoast Now does not store those coordinates in the calendar database.
Usage analytics
Public pages use Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity to measure page use, navigation, clicks, scrolling, device characteristics, errors, heatmaps, and session playback. Clarity masks sensitive form inputs by default. Private administrator and verified-venue pages do not load these analytics tools. Midcoast Now does not intentionally send submission contact information, free-text form contents, or precise location coordinates to either service. Submission analytics may include the selected event type and a known-town-or-other location category.
Corrections and security
Correction requests may include an optional email. Anti-abuse systems may process a shortened or hashed network identifier and technical request information. Private administrator and venue access records the authenticated email used for an operating action.
Operating records
The service retains the newest 2,000 event-change records and limited notification and source-refresh records for accuracy, troubleshooting, and accountability. These records are restricted to administrators and may include moderator or verified venue-editor email addresses.
Retention
Pending submissions and corrections are retained until reviewed. Reviewed submissions and corrections are automatically deleted after 90 days. Event information may remain in the public calendar and operating history without the submitter’s contact details. Operational exports are stored separately with access controls.
